• What is "Adminstrative Approval" ?

✓ "Adminstrative Approval" means, the formal acceptance by an administrative department of a proposal that the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT should incur a specified amount of expenditure on a specified work required by, or in connection with that adminstrative department.

• What is "Technical Sanction" ?

✓ "Technical Sanction" means, the order of a component authority sanctioning a properly detailed estimate of the cost of a work of construction or repair to be carried out by the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.

• What are the advantages of Percentage Rate Contract ?

✓ There are some basic advantages of 'Percentage Rate Contract' like,
  1. There are no rates for individual items the benifits due to increase in quantities will not be availed by the contractor.
  2. Comparative Statement can be prepared quickly.
  3. Over-writing and erasing of rates etc. can be avoided.

• What are the disadvantages of Percentage Rate Contract ?

✓ Basically, there should have some disadvantages where you find the advantages. Well of course there is some of them I'll discuss here,
  1. Contractor may quote rate too low or too high. In such case it is too time consuming to cancel the lowest tender, to get approval or higher authorities as there is no guarantee of quality.
  2. Tenders can form the ring. This leads to loss of GOVT. money.
  3. The total cost of work is not known until it's completion.
  4. Two or more contractor may quote the same rate with negotiation, then it is difficult to allot the work to any one contractor.

• What are the responsibilities of an Assistant Engineer ?

✓ Assistant Engineers mainly supports engineering projects by adapting engineering techniques, conducting tests and inspections, preparing reports and calculations. 

• What are the responsibilities of a Chief Engineer ?

✓ A Chief Engineer is ultimately responsible for all operations and maintenance that has to do with any and all engineering equipment throughout the entire project. One who works alongside other Engineers and Technicians, approving designs, calculating costs, negotiating contracts and executing plans safely and efficiently.

• What is "Budgetary Provision" ?

✓ For any work or project, it is necessary to provide finance originally the estimates are prepared by P.W.D. and sent to secretary of the department. 
The assurance of finance dept. for allotment of funds to the estimates, fully or partly, submitted above in writing is known as 'Budgetary Provision' engg. department takes up execution.

• What are the requirements of a valid contract ?

✓ The actual requirements of a VALID contract are, 
  1. Contract should be made by parties competent to contract.
  2. Contract should be made by free consent of parties.
  3. There should be a definite proposal and its acceptance.
  4. Subject matter of the agreement must be legal and definite.
  5. There must be a lawful consideration.
